Sharon Brooks, Jean Bacon and Jeffrey Byrne will be presenting a pre-conference seminar on behalf of 3B, an SB&A/Brooks Adams Research (BAR) affiliate specializing in fund development for senior living communities.

Senior living communities face a challenging fundraising environment. In the past few years, many residents have suffered significant portfolio losses, institutional funding for capital projects has become more difficult to obtain, and there is increased scrutiny of senior living providers concerning their 501(c)(3) status. This session discusses and highlights strategies for effective fundraising campaigns in senior living communities in this economic environment.

• Understand why fundraising is integral to the sustainability of senior living communities, and examine the process for identifying and contacting potential donors and affinity groups

• Review case studies of successful fundraising campaigns, including endowment funds, capital campaigns and annual giving campaigns

• Take home marketing and public relations strategies for and components of successful development campaigns
